Carolina first baseman Neftali Soto and Jackson left-hander James Paxton were the Southern League's weekly award winners.
Soto's seven hits for the week ending Sunday included five home runs and led to 11 RBIs. He scored eight times and walked twice. Soto has a .276 average, 25 homers and 61 RBIs this year.
Paxton, formerly of the University of Kentucky, threw 6 2/3 shutout innings at Birmingham on Saturday. He gave up two hits with two walks and 10 strikeouts. Paxton is 2-0 with a 1.97 ERA in six starts.
