Biscuits pitcher Nick Barnese won't make his final two scheduled starts of the season due to shoulder fatigue. Frank De Los Santos will start in Barnese's place Tuesday in Montgomery's home finale and in next week's season finale at Chattanooga.
"I'll try to get better and get ready for next year," Barnese said.
Barnese struggled in his last start Thursday, allowing seven runs in two innings, and finishes 6-8 with a 3.76 ERA in 24 starts. He said his shoulder wasn't in pain Thursday and described it as "more of a tired, fatigued feeling."
"It was something he could get through," manager Billy Gardner said, "but with just a couple of starts remaining, we decided to shut him down."
