The Biscuits survived a Carolina rally in the ninth inning to take a 4-3 victory over the Mudcats on Sunday at Riverwalk Stadium.
The Mudcats scored twice in the ninth inning but recorded the final out after a sacrifice fly. Miguel Rojas scored on Bill Rhinehart's flyball, but Henry Rodriguez was out trying to advance to third.
Carolina started the ninth inning with three straight singles off Biscuits stopper Zach Quate.
Neftali Soto, who hit his 29th home run in the fifth inning, hit a flyball to the warning track in center field to bring in the first run and bring up Rhinehart for his sacrifice fly. Rodriguez safely reached third but overslid the bag and appeared to injure an ankle. He was helped from the field.
Biscuits starter Shane Dyer gave up one run over 6 1/3 innings and third baseman Greg Sexton scored three times. He homered, singled and walked.
