Mississippi shortstop Andrelton Simmons and Chattanooga right-hander Matt Magill won the Southern League's holiday-delayed weekly award winners today.
Simmons was 10-for-24 with eight runs scored, three home runs and five RBIs for the week that ended Sunday. After an 0-for-3 Monday vs. the Biscuits, he's hitting .299.
Magill fired seven shutout innings Thursday, giving up two hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts. That left him 4-2 with a 3.19 ERA and his second weekly SL award of the year.
