Fleming marks a first in Biscuits history

Reliever Marquis Fleming became the first pitcher in Biscuits history to bat in a game tonight. He, of course, struck out in the ninth inning of a 5-5 tie at Birmingham. Four pitches -- called strike, ball, foul, swinging strike.

The Biscuits lost their DH when Mark Thomas went to catch in the seventh inning. Rehabbing major leaguer Jose Lobaton left after two at-bats (no surprise), but David Wendt left for unknown reasons after bunting into an out in the top of the seventh. (I covered a high school game tonight, so I wasn't listening to the radio broadcast.)
