Rearick to join Biscuits today

New Biscuits reliever Chris Rearick is scheduled to be in uniform today at Birmingham, while infielder Shawn O'Malley will join the team for its upcoming series at Jackson.

Rearick had a 1.79 ERA and was 20-of-22 on saves with the Stone Crabs. A Florida State League All-Star, the 24-year-old Georgian has given up just one run and six hits in his last 14 1/3 innings. He's a left-hander.

O'Malley was hitting .245 in 67 games with Durham this year, but he had a .190 average in just eight July games. The 24-year-old was with Montgomery the last two seasons. Hurt for much of 2010, he hit .276 last year.

Adam Liberatore, who made an appearance for Durham in April, had a 2.94 ERA in 52 innings for the Biscuits. The left-hander struggled mightily at home (3.90 ERA, 2-of-8 on saves) but was good on the road (1.64, 6-of-7).
