Biscuits pitcher Joe Cruz has been diagnosed with what manager Billy Gardner called a "flexor mass strain" in his forearm and won't pick up a baseball for the next 7-10 days.
"That's very good news, no tears or anything," Cruz said. "I'm definitely relieved. It was a little scary, but I'll keep going and keep rehabbing. Hopefully I can come back and help this team win a championship."
Cruz, who suffered the injury and collapsed on the mound while throwing a pitch Saturday, will likely go on the disabled list.
"We have to wait until there's no pain or inflammation before he starts throwing," Gardner said. "Then, we have to build him back up with some (side sessions) and live (batting practice). I think he'd be a DL candidate, for sure."
