Biscuits second baseman Tyler Bortnick has been traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for major league infielder Ryan Roberts.
Bortnick will be assigned to Triple-A Reno.
Bortnick was hitting .253 in 95 games for the Biscuits. The 25-year-old was a 16-round draft pick in 2009. He was an All-Star last season for high-Class A Charlotte and was the most valuable player for low-Class A Bowling Green in 2010.
Roberts, 31, is primarily a third baseman who had a .250 average with the Diamondbacks this year. He has spent parts of seven seasons in the majors, the last four with Arizona.
