Biscuits first baseman Ryan Garko, on the disabled list with an oblique injury, suffered a setback Saturday, while pitcher Joe Cruz, out with a forearm strain, felt "great" after a throwing session today.
Garko hasn't played since July 20 at Birmingham.
"All I can do is let it heal," Garko said. "I feel like the bus ride back and forth to Birmingham did me in. That's frustrating, too. I felt the travel kind of contributed to it, but what can you do? It's part of the minor leagues."
Cruz, who last pitched July 14 when he collapsed on the mound against Mobile, threw for 60 feet last week and from 75 feet Sunday. He's still likely a couple of weeks from returning.
"It was a good step forward," Cruz said. "It felt nice and easy, no pain. We're on the right track."
