The Biscuits, their pitching stretched after a 14-inning loss Monday, held the Mobile BayBears to five hits Tuesday afternoon in a 3-2 victory.
After starter Alex Colome threw 5 1/3 innings, Neil Schenk worked 2 2/3 shutout innings -- tying a season high -- and Kirby Yates pitched the ninth for his ninth save. On Monday, Schenk threw one and Yates two shutout innings.
Mayo Acosta hit an RBI double to break a 1-1 tie and scored in the fifth inning to give Montgomery a two-run lead. Colome left after Alfredo Marte's RBI double in the sixth made it 3-2.
Colome (6-3) won his third straight start. He threw 108 pitches, the most for the Biscuits this season.
