James Paxton picked up his first win in four starts against the Biscuits, pitching six strong innings in the Jackson Generals' 5-3 victory Friday.
Paxton gave up one run on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts. The former University of Kentucky star was 0-1 with a 4.09 ERA in three previous games against Montgomery.
Biscuits shortstop Hak-Ju Lee extended his on-base streak to 39 games with a seventh-inning home run.
Lee hit a two-run, two-out blast to pull Montgomery within two. It was his third home run of the season and first since he homered on consecutive days June 4-5. He had gone 188 at-bats without a homer.
Montgomery starter Matt Buschmann allowed five runs in seven innings. He's worked at least six innings in his last five starts.
