Thursday: Biscuits 6, Generals 4

Derek Dietrich singled in Mikie Mahtook with the go-ahead run in the eighth inning of the Biscuits' 6-4 win over the Jackson Generals on Thursday.

After Dietrich committed an error that led to Jackson tying the game in the top of the eighth, he atoned for it. Mahtook hit a leadoff double before Dietrich's one-out RBI single to right. Dietrich scored on Omar Luna's double to give Montgomery a two-run lead.

Dietrich, playing second base, dropped a soft popup to short right field that allowed the tying run to score. The Generals had runners on second and third base with one out when Biscuits reliever Kirby Yates came in.

The error allowed Denny Almonte to score and become the first inherited runner to score against Yates this season. Yates followed with two strikeouts.

Mark Thomas homered in the seventh inning to give the Biscuits a 4-3 lead.
