The Biscuits are adding an independent league pitcher, according to his previous team.
Right-hander Mike Colla from the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League is headed to Montgomery.
Colla was 2-4 with a 3.83 ERA in nine starts for the Bluefish this season. He previously was in the Pittsburgh organization and spent the last three seasons at Double-A. He was a combined 12-17 with a 3.65 ERA with Altoona. Colla was a 14th-round draft pick in 2008 out of the University of Arizona.
The Biscuits will have to make a further roster move to create space for Colla.
