Sunday's lineups: Kang hitting leadoff

Kyeong Kang marks a career first today: He's batting leadoff.

With Kevin Kiermaier out of the lineup after being hit by a pitch Saturday, the Biscuits have Kang hitting first in today's series finale with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

Every player who has hit leadoff this season is hurt. Kiermaier (54 games) was hit by a pitch on the left foot. Ty Morrison (17) has long departed due to season-ending surgery. Shawn O'Malley (three) went on the disabled list Thursday.

Kiermaier said after Saturday's game that he could already feel his foot tightening up and that he dreaded waking up this morning. "I know when I wake up (today), it's going to be awful," he said.

Kang is in his sixth professional season and has just one game where he hit second in the lineup (in 2010 at high-Class A Charlotte). He's primarily been in the 6 hole with the Biscuits this season. In 34 games with him hitting sixth, Montgomery is 20-14. Kang has also batted fourth (once), fifth (four times), seventh (once) and eighth (once).

First pitch 6:05 p.m. For sporadic in-game updates, check Twitter @AStacyLong.
