Former Biscuit Wendt released by Rays

Having checked off all the names from the short-season rosters and crossed off all the names from the extended spring training list, there were a few names that stuck out. I either looked the players up or asked about them.

Raul Mondesi Jr.: right arm surgery
David Wendt: released
Reid Redman: now a pitcher at Class A Lexington (Marlins)
Alex Keudell: now at Class A Kane County (Angels)

Mondesi joined the Rays in an offseason trade from the Brewers for major league pitcher Burke Badenhop. Mondesi played in the Rookie-level Pioneer League last year.

Wendt is a former Biscuit who tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug in January and had to begin the season with a 50-game suspension.

Redman was a 23rd-round draft pick last year as an infielder and hit .265 at Princeton. Keudell was a 27th-rounder last year and had a 2.28 ERA in 43 1/3 innings for Princeton.
