Travis Mattair's two-run single in the sixth inning lifted the Pensacola Blue Wahoos to a 2-1 win over the Biscuits in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader.
Biscuits starter Enny Romero took a one-hit shutout into the sixth inning. Romero (4-2) lost for the first time since May 10. The left-hander hadn't allowed an earned run in his last four starts, covering 24 2/3 innings. He's posted five straight quality starts.
The Biscuits scored in the fifth when Mikie Mahtook singled home Kevin Kiermaier. Kiermaier, who walked twice, reached on a leadoff bunt when catcher Danny Vicioso threw wildly to first. Kiermaier went to second on the play and to third on a Shawn O'Malley bunt.
