Jake McGee won for the first time in almost two years, pitching seven shutout innings for the Biscuits in a 6-1 win over the Tennessee Smokies on Friday.
McGee struck out 11, allowed five hits and walked just one. He threw 67 of his 88 pitches for strikes. He threw 19 first-pitch strikes and faced 27 batters. His fastest pitch was 96 mph.
Emeel Salem scored twice for Montgomery. Cody Cipriano was 3-for-4, including an RBI single that capped a four-run, five-hit third inning.
