Greg Sexton’s two-run home run in the sixth inning snapped a tie and lifted the Montgomery Biscuits to a 5-3 win over the Huntsville Stars on Wednesday. Sexton’s blast was his first in Double-A and was an opposite-field shot down the right-field line.
John Matulia also homered for the Biscuits. Darin Downs (4-0) won in relief of starter Alex Cobb, who allowed no earned runs in four-plus innings in his first Double-A start.
Matt Gorgen worked the ninth for his Southern League-leading seventh save -- but not without suspense. The Stars loaded the bases with one out. Gorgen struck out Chris Errercart and Andy Machado to end it.
