Austin Bibens-Dirkx faced one hitter over the minimum in his seven innings to lead the Tennessee Smokies in a 3-0 win over the Biscuits on Wednesday.
Bibens-Dirkx (3-1) allowed two hits, walked none and struck out four. He retired the final 17 hitters he faced.
Montgomery managed just five baserunners and three singles off Bibens-Dirkx, David Cales and Scott Maine.
Biscuits starter David Newmann (1-2) committed an error that led to an unearned run in the third inning. He worked 6 1/3 innings.
