McGee close to first win in two years

Jake McGee pitched seven shutout innings tonight, is in line for his first victory since June 6, 2008, just before he had Tommy John surgery, and struck out 11. The Biscuits lead 6-0 at the stretch. The 11 strikeouts are his most in Double-A and it's the 11th time in his career that he's posted double-digit Ks.

Did his stuff seem harder/crisper today?

Yes, very much so. I saw a 93 on the gun here, which usually translates into a 95. (I admit I didn't look after every pitch.)

Hopefully McGee can be that LHP with the big fastball out of the pen, for the Rays in the near future
