State's Mr. Football drafted by Orioles in 41st round

Coty Blanchard, the state's Mr. Football award last fall at Cherokee County High School, was a 41st-round draft pick today by the Baltimore Orioles.

Blanchard had committed to play baseball at Mississippi State before starring on the gridiron last fall, which led him to sign to play football at Jacksonville State. The O's drafted him as a shortstop.
