On points, Dietrich best in April

Using the highly scientific Crumb daily rankings, we're already ready to crown a Tampa Bay minor leaguer of the month for April.

It's not as complicated as the Bowl Championship Series. Every first-place vote was worth five points and second place four all the way to fifth place one.

Obviously, this system has shortcomings -- and I'll post a full-month ballot soon. This system rewards gaudy days, not a solid month. There's also the small matter of the obvious shortcomings of the person doing the rankings, namely me.

With that, Bowling Green's Derek Dietrich wins the points championship by one point over Charlotte's Greg Sexton. Durham's Justin Ruggiano was the only one to rank No. 1 more than one day. Charlotte's Hak-Ju Lee was ranked the most days with six.
