Price on verge of BCS championship

With just a few days left in the monthly race, Bowling Green third baseman Robby Price is in a strong position for the May BCS championship.

(BCS: Biscuit Crumbs Star.)

While Price has 24 points and a comfortable lead, there's an intriguing race for the top pitcher.

Durham's Alex Cobb and Montgomery's Matt Moore each sit with 17 points with one scheduled start remaining. (Oh, the pressure.) Tampa Bay outfielder Justin Ruggiano has 15 points from his time at Durham and he's tied with Charlotte second baseman Tyler Bortnick. If Ruggiano remains in the major leagues, he can't accrue more points. (I'm sure he'll mourn.)

We will break ties in order to name a top pitcher and position player. Likely by decree. If it comes to that, there's a possibility I can be bought.

Lest we forget, Bowling Green's Derek Dietrich was the April winner. Enny Romero and Alex Torres tied for top pitcher, a tie I failed to break.

Obviously, this BCS -- unlike the other -- is a highly subjective system. It's based on the daily rankings, which I do only if at least three teams play. It also rewards good days rather than a solid month.
