Braves', league's top hitter scratched

Mississippi Braves center fielder Todd Cunningham, the Southern League's leading hitter, was scratched from tonight's start due to ankle soreness.

Manager Aaron Holbert said Cunningham, who left Tuesday's game early, felt it during infield practice this afternoon. He's day-to-day.

"Hopefully, it's not a major thing," Holbert said. "There's no reason to take a chance, put him in there and have him slip and hurt it more."

Cunningham has a .321 average in 92 games. He was a second-round draft pick in 2010 out of his hometown Jacksonville State University.
