Tampa Bay pitcher Juan Salas is returning to Montgomery this week to get into game shape for his return from a 50-game suspension handed out May 7.
Salas was suspended after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance and is eligible to return to the Devil Rays in early July.
Biscuits manager Billy Gardner said he wasn't sure when Salas might pitch. Salas is expected to throw in simulated game conditions Monday.
Salas was a third baseman for the Biscuits in 2004 and became a pitcher later that year. He returned to Montgomery late in 2005 and didn't allow an earned run in 34 2/3 innings last year. Salas went to Durham in mid-June and made his major-league debut in September.
