Second-half lidlifter

Juan Salas is here to start his rehab assignment and can return to the majors July 3 when his 50-game suspension for a positive test for a performance-enhancing substance ends. Wade Davis is throwing a bullpen under the watchful eye of Rays pitching coordinator Dick Bosman and is scheduled to make his Biscuits debut this week.

Tampa Bay has announced two more draftee signings: third-rounder Nick Barnese and 25th-rounder Justin Garcia. Both are right-handed pitchers. Barnese is a California high schooler, while Garcia comes from Western Nevada Community College. That's 17 announced signings, including 12 of the Rays' top 25 picks.

The Biscuits and BayBears open a six-game series (yes, a six-gamer) tonight.
