Wellman goes wild

Mississippi manager Phillip Wellman was only practicing when he piled dirt on home plate and mimicked an umpire's call a few weeks ago at Riverwalk Stadium. He showed a little more in the third inning Friday night at Chattanooga after home-plate umpire Brent Rice kicked him out.

I'd say he faces a suspension for ... well, don't let me spoil the surprises.

In the fifth, Rice ejected starting pitcher Kelvin Villa after finding what he judged was a foreign substance on Villa. Joey Devine and Mike Rozema were ejected for arguing Rice's finding.
