Wednesday: Biscuits 6, Suns 0

Alex Cobb and two relievers combined on a three-hitter in the Biscuits’ 6-0 win over the Jacksonville Suns on Wednesday.

Montgomery won the rubber game of the five-game series and pulled within 1 1/2 games of the Suns in the first-half Southern League South Division race.

Cobb (2-1) gave up three hits over 6 2/3 innings, Darin Downs retired the four men he faced and Heath Rollins pitched a perfect ninth. Montgomery leads the league with nine shutouts.

Emeel Salem was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, while Rashad Eldridge doubled twice, scored twice and had two RBIs. Chris Nowak also knocked in two runs.

Is Leslie Anderson going to be the 1st baseman at Montgomery, or are they just trying him out at different positions. I'd hate to see Matt Fields get bumped out.

with the signing bonus Leslie got, I would have to think they have higher aspirations than just seeing what position he plays! The guy was 1b and occasional outfield for the Cuban National team. As much as I like Matt Fields he may have to take a back seat to Anderson.
