Former AU star wins league's June award

Huntsville Stars first baseman Hunter Morris, a former Auburn star, has been named the Southern League's player of the month for June.

Morris hit .307 in 27 June games and led the league with seven home runs and 27 RBIs.

Morris is a Huntsville native who graduated from Grissom High. He set an Auburn record with 23 home runs and had a .386 average with 76 RBIs as a junior for the Tigers before the Brewers took him in the fourth round of the 2010 draft.

Through Thursday, Morris ranked fourth in the league with a .301 average, was second with 59 RBIs and had a league-best 27 doubles. He also had 10 home runs.
