Sean Bierman has been promoted from the Bowling Green Hot Rods to Charlotte Stone Crabs.
Bierman, a 24-year-old left-hander, was 5-4 with a 2.69 ERA in 13 starts for the low-Class A Hot Rods.
He had won three straight starts and recorded four straight quality starts before a six-run, six-inning outing Monday. But, for those who like advanced metrics, he recorded 14 groundball outs Monday and has had more than twice as many outs via grounders than flyballs.
Bierman was a 10th-round draft pick in 2012 as a fifth-year senior from the University of Tampa. He started his college career at Vanderbilt.
Bierman made his pro debut at short-season Hudson Valley and was 4-2 with a 2.75 ERA before making two appearances for the Hot Rods.
