Biscuits pitcher Enny Romero says it was an accident, but Suns infielder Derek Dietrich said he's confident it was on purpose. Romero plunked Dietrich with the first pitch of Friday's doubleheader finale, which led to Montgomery's Mikie Mahtook being hit and Suns pitcher Matt Neil being ejected.
Romero and Dietrich were teammates for much of the last two seasons in the Tampa Bay organization. File this one away for an interleague matchup, perhaps in the near future.
Oh, there was Saturday's game, too, in which Dietrich hit the first of three straight homers for the Suns in a 5-1 series-ending victory. Montgomery's Victor Mateo, on his 24th birthday, took a no-hitter into the seventh inning.
