Outfielder Evan Frey has been demoted to the Biscuits from Triple-A Durham, a move that makes room on the Bulls' roster for the promoted Kevin Kiermaier.
Frey was hitting .224 in 19 games for the Bulls. He began the year in the Arizona organization and had a .282 average in 61 games at Triple-A Reno. The Diamondbacks released him June 24 and he signed with the Rays on July 1.
The 27-year-old, in his previous six minor league seasons, was a .280 hitter and spent most of the last four years with the Mobile BayBears.
