Report: Dietrich initially silent over assault

Derek Dietrich initially stayed quiet over Marlins hitting coach Tino Martinez grabbing him, according to Fort Lauderdale's Sun Sentinel.

The incident happened less than a week after Dietrich arrived in the major leagues. Dietrich told manager Mike Redmond about it only at Redmond's request.

The incident wasn't a first-time thing, the Sun Sentinel reported, citing an unnamed source. Martinez "berated" minor league infielder Matt Downs after taking offense that Downs was working with then-minor league hitting coordinator Greg Norton. Martinez had incidents with several other players.

Norton, who played for Tampa Bay in 2006-07 and had an injury rehab assignment with the Biscuits in 2007, in is now the hitting coach at Auburn.
