St. James graduate and former Auburn pitcher Taylor Thompson will be part of the Southern League All-Star Game, too.
Thompson, the closer for the Birmingham Barons, has been named a replacement on the North Division team for injured Barons teammate Ryan Kussmaul.
Thompson is 3-1 with a 2.42 ERA and is 11-for-11 in save opportunities this year. Hitters have a .181 average and 45 strikeouts in his 44 2/3 innings.
The right-hander graduated from St. James in 2006 and was a 44th-round draft pick out of Auburn in 2009.
