Ryan Brett hit a three-run home run with two outs in the eighth inning to lift the Biscuits to a 3-0 win over the Jacksonville Suns on Sunday.
Brett lined a 3-1 pitch from Collin Cargill over the left-field wall to give Montgomery its sixth win in eight games.
Kyeong Kang led off the eighth with a single and beat the play at second when Mayo Acosta laid down a sacrifice bunt. Jacksonville left-handed starter Adam Conley struck out the next two hitters before the Suns went to the right-handed Cargill to face Brett.
Jake Thompson, Braulio Lara and Juan Sandoval combined on a seven-hitter and Montgomery's second straight shutout of the first-place Suns. Jacksonville has failed to score in 20 games this year, the most in professional baseball. Montgomery has posted 14 shutouts.
Thompson gave up five hits over six innings, while Lara (4-2) worked two innings. Sandoval pitched a one-hit ninth, working out of a two-on, one-out jam, for his 19th save.
Conley surrendered just two hits over the first seven innings. He and Thompson are among four tied for the Southern League lead with 11 victories.
