Shields takes American League honor

Rays pitcher James Shields, formerly of the Biscuits, won the American League's weekly award for pitchers. Shields gave up one earned run in two complete-game wins and is 2-1 with a 2.35 ERA this year. He threw a four-hit shutout Sunday on the Toronto Blue Jays and a four-hitter last Tuesday in a 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox.
