Second baseman Ryan Brett has been promoted from high-Class A Charlotte to the Biscuits, who have sent infielder Hector Guevara to the Stone Crabs.
At the start of the season, Brett still had to serve 38 games of a 50-game suspension after a positive test for a performance-enhancing drug at the end of last season.
Brett, a third-round draft pick in 2010, was hitting .340 in 51 games for the Stone Crabs. The 21-year-old scored 38 times and had 22 RBIs. Last year, Brett hit .285 with 48 steals and 77 runs scored at low-Class A Bowling Green.
Guevara had a .227 average in 33 games with Montgomery after a late-June promotion from Charlotte.
