Ackley goes second; time warp at MLB

Dustin Ackley of the University of North Carolina has gone second to the Seattle Mariners, according to the draft tracker at MLB.com. However, the MLB Network broadcast, also available at MLB.com, still has more than a minute left before the Mariners announce the pick.

Or the teams aren't waiting for the time limit. Donavan Tate, a Georgia high school outfielder, goes third to the Padres. Tate has signed with North Carolina with the intent of playing football and baseball.

At No. 4, the Pirates take Boston College catcher Tony Sanchez. ESPN.com reported earlier that the sides had already agreed to terms.

Orioles take California high school pitcher Matt Hobgood fifth. That looks a little high (ranked 40th nationally by Baseball America), but the Orioles should know more about these things than I do.
