Stanhope/Faulkner's Adams joins Tribe in fifth round

Faulkner pitcher Austin Adams, another Stanhope Elmore graduate, went to the Cleveland Indians in the fifth round. He was the 155th overall pick.

Last year's 155th pick was a college player who received a $181,000 signing bonus, according to Baseball America. The 151st pick was a prep catcher who fetched $376,000.

A player from UAB went in the sixth round to Atlanta, right-handed pitcher Ryan Woolley. Outfielder Kyle Rose of Northwest-Shoals Community College was the state's first junior college player drafted. The Braves grabbed the Huntsville native in the eighth round.

In the 11th round, the Texas Rangers took pitcher Johnny Gunter of Chattahoochee Valley. He's from Phenix City.
