Crow hurt his spot by waiting year

Aaron Crow, who just went 12th to the Royals, was the ninth overall pick last year by the Nationals. It won't hurt his finances much. Last year's No. 9 pick got $1.9 milllion to sign.

He obviously didn't sign and spent this spring with independent Fort Worth. He's why the Nationals picked first and 10th. If teams don't sign their first-round pick, they get a similar pick the next. The Yankees have the 29th pick because Gerrit Cole, their pick at 28th last year, didn't sign.
