Reliever Chad Orvella was released today by the Durham Bulls. Orvella jumped straight from the Biscuits to Tampa Bay in 2005 and pitched three seasons in the majors. He missed all of last season with a shoulder injury.
The 28-year-old had a 6.12 ERA in 19 appearances this season. He had 24 strikeouts and 36 hits allowed in 32 1/3 innings.
Reliever Jorge Julio, who appeared in 15 games with Milwaukee earlier this year, replaces Orvella. Julio, 30, had a 7.79 ERA with the Brewers and is a ninth-year major leaguer.
