Former Biscuits pitcher Wade Townsend said reports of his retirement have been greatly exaggerated. He's in Florida at Tampa Bay's extended spring training facility rehabbing from offseason shoulder injury.
"I am obviously not retired and have no idea where it came from," Townsend wrote in a text message.
The former first-round pick said he's scheduled to throw live batting practice in eight days and pitch in a Gulf Coast League game July 21.
"I feel very good," he said.
