Biscuits first baseman Rhyne Hughes was promoted to Triple-A Durham after tonight's 14-8 loss at Birmingham. Montgomery will be getting first baseman Matt Fields from high-Class A Charlotte.
Hughes, 1-for-4 with a run scored tonight, was the Southern League leader with 15 home runs and 46 RBIs. He had a .252 average. The 25-year-old had set a career high for home runs this season. Two years ago, Hughes was the Florida State League batting champion.
Fields led the Stone Crabs with 11 homers (second in the Florida State League) and 44 RBIs (first). Fields was hitting .255. He hit 19 homers two years ago for low-A Columbus and 18 last season for high-A Vero Beach.
