Christian Marrero had three RBIs and Charlie Leesman retired Montgomery’s first 12 hitters in the Birmingham Barons’ 6-4 win over the Biscuits on Saturday.
The Biscuits fell to 0-3 for the first time since 2004, their inaugural season.
Marrero hit a two-run home run in the third inning to make it 2-0 and an RBI double in the sixth that gave Birmingham a 5-1 lead.
The Biscuits scored single runs in each inning from the fifth through the eighth. After scoring in the sixth, they had the bases loaded with one out and failed to add another run.
Montgomery stranded two runners in both the seventh and eighth innings. Each time, the runners were on with one out.
Daniel Mayora, whose leadoff triple in the fifth broke up Leesman’s perfect game, scored twice to lead the Biscuits.
