so i have another question about extended spring training. how many of the older guys that are left in spring training or were invited only to attend extended spring training will actually make it out of extended spring training? do they make another cut before short season ball begins. sorry for my silly questions i love baseball and i am a huge fan. i am trying to learn as much as i can about the different aspects of minor league ball. thanks
It's not a silly question at all.
There will be more cuts, but there's no telling how many. These guys and the June draftees -- at least those that not only sign but sign quickly enough -- will have to stock three teams.
To use the pitchers as an example, there are 24 on the extended spring roster. That's not enough for Hudson Valley, Princeton and the GCL Rays. The draft will give them more than enough.
Also, there will be injuries and the moves that follow could affect these guys.
