Minnesota Twins outfielder Delmon Young, the 2005 Southern League most valuable player for the Biscuits, was traded today to the Minnesota Twins for a Class A pitcher and a player to be named.
He's scheduled to make his Detroit debut at home tonight when the Tigers start a series ironically the Twins.
Young, who was born in Montgomery, went from the Rays to the Twins in a November 2007 trade. He was hitting .266 with four homers and 32 RBIs in 84 games for Minnesota season. Delmon's older brother, Dmitri, once played for the Tigers.
Left-hander Cole Nelson goes from the Tigers to Twins. He was at high-Class A Lakeland this year.
