Dylan Axelrod and two relievers combined on a two-hitter in the Birmingham Barons’ 1-0 win over the Biscuits in Thursday’s season opener.
Axelrod allowed both hits -- doubles to Cody Cipriano and Nevin Ashley -- over his five innings. Nathan Jones and Greg Infante followed with two no-hit innings each.
The Barons scored in the second against touted Biscuits starter Matt Moore.
Ozzie Lewis’ two-out single brought home Brandon Short, who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. With two outs, Seth Loman was hit by a pitch to put Short in scoring position.
Moore lasted five innings, allowing two hits. He walked none and struck out seven.
