Bowling Green right-hander Taylor Guerrieri, who has already attended and not played in one All-Star Game, is skipping another altogether.
Guerrieri, at the behest of the Rays, won't attend next weekend's All-Star Futures Game in New York. He had been scheduled to play for the U.S. team. Biscuits left-hander Enny Romero will suit up for the World.
Guerrieri is 6-2 with a 2.08 ERA in 13 starts and has a current streak of 22 scoreless innings.
The 20-year-old is in his first full professional season and the Rays say they want him to have extra rest instead. He was part of last month's Midwest League All-Star festivities, though he stayed on the bench for the June 18 game in Dayton, Ohio.
