De Los Santos to start Opening Day for Bulls

Richard De Los Santos, who set Durham's Triple-A record for wins last year, is slated to start Opening Day for the Bulls on Thursday.

De Los Santos was 14-5 last year, led the International League in wins and had a 3.52 ERA. Dirk Hayhurst, Alex Torres, Alex Cobb and Edgar Gonzalez follow in the rotation.

I can only speculate about the bullpen and position players.

I have nine names for seven bullpen spots. Of course, the Rays could send two extras and leave them off the active roster. I'm confident of 40-man roster guys Dane De La Rosa, Rob Delaney, Mike Ekstrom and Brandon Gomes. After that, there's Brian Baker, Chris Bootcheck, Ricky Orta, R.J. Swindle and Cory Wade.

Outfielders Desmond Jennings, Justin Ruggiano, Brandon Guyer and Leslie Anderson, and catchers Robinson Chirinos and Jose Lobaton are locks.

Casey Kotchman, Russ Canzler and Chris Carter and Ray Olmedo are close to being locks. I expect infielders J.J. Furmaniak and Felipe Lopez to be there, too, with Craig Albernaz as an extra catcher.

Daniel Mayora is a question mark.
