Bush adds slider to pitching repertoire

Biscuits reliever Matt Bush has started throwing a slider in his last two appearances, which has led to 4 1/3 shutout innings, one hit allowed and eight strikeouts. He said he started experimenting with it after his July 26 appearance where he gave up three runs in one inning. That's the focus of my story in Saturday's paper. (Here's the link.)

Let me add that he hit 96 mph on the Riverwalk gun, which translates to 98. In the clubhouse, tonight's pitchers who charted told him their gun had him hit 100.
